All I ever needed to know about real estate, I learned from the Internet

I err on the side of sarcasm… I did not learn everything about real estate from the thumbnailInternet.  The most valuable lessons came from life experience; Out in the field experience, listing and selling properties, coupled with the knowledge my broker shared with me and classroom learning (and, of course, dept. of state testing).

My point is, in this day and age (I totally aged myself with that cliché didn’t I?) if we want to know about a subject or become an ‘expert’ on it we just “google it”, right?  There are tips for this, top 10 tips for that, DIY legal forms and a myriad of myths on how to buy and sell real estate, etc.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not  bashing ‘the google’;  it’s just that all real estate cannot be generalized into a Top 10 Tips list.   Your house is not guaranteed to sell by owner “if you just follow these top 5 techniques.”   There is more to selling a home than just marketing and accepting an offer.  And there is more to buying a home than just getting in the door and making an offer.   Sure there are generic tips and tricks that are good to know when starting to learn about the process, but it’s critical to keep in mind that all real estate is local and sometimes hyper-local.   If you are curious, interested in, just  starting out or are even serious about buying a or selling your home , it would be wise to speak with (or email) a local REALTOR about your specific real estate market and your specific goals and needs.   In fact, I would be happy to email, talk, or meet  in person (I like coffee by the way)  to listen and discuss the entire real estate process and what’s involved to find or sell your home.
